A better solution to the problem was helping them out instead of kicking them off their land. They could have teach them how to farm or given them the tools they need to hunt and farm.

I think the civil war was the most interesting thing. Disagreements between the Northerners and the Southerners led to the Civil War. The Civil War began in 1861 and lasted for four years. They argued over whether slavery should be allowed in the new states added to the nation. The Northern states did not want slavery to expand. The Southerners thought should have slaves. They also fought about who should have more control over the states. The Northerners wanted the national government to have more power and the Southerners wanted the states to have more power. When Abraham Lincoln won as president he agreed with the Northerners and many Southern states left the United States and created the Confederate States of America. When the Civil War finally ended after four years the biggest change was the end of slavery when the Thirteenth Amendment was passed. I think this was interesting because I did not know that people could be used as slaves. I am glad this has changed.

I think the most important part of this chapter is about the Civil Rights movement with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Dr. King was an very important leader. He was born in Atlanta Georgia. He was speaking against segregation and other kinds of unfair treatments. Dr, King protested against people with out violence. He believed that nonviolent protest was a powerful way to win the fight for civil rights. Many people agreed with him. In 1964 the new law was written and passed - The Civil Rights Act of 1964. This included the right to vote, have protection of the law and segregations in schools and public places was no longer allowed. He died in his motel by gun shot April 1968.

I think the most interesting part about this chapter was the Cherokee way of life. I think it was cool how they lived. They built their houses inside the mountains of the Appalachia. They farmed all different types of foods, like corn, squash, beans and other crops. They hunted for meat and would travel hundreds of miles to trap rabbits and shoot deer with bows and arrows. They also hunted wild turkeys and bears and fished in the many lakes and streams. The land around them provided many resources.

The most important or interesting part of the chapter was learning about Abraham Lincoln and how the civil war happened. Abraham Lincoln was elected in 1860 and and as a result he lost some states and they became part of their own country, called Confederate States of America. This separation led to the Civil War. This war lasted 4 years and it was called the civil war because it was a war between two groups in one country. The two groups were the northern and southern states or the Union and the Confederacy. As a result of the war slavery was abolished and slaves became new American citizens. Then the United States needed to rebuild not only physically but the relationship between the north and south.

I think the most important part was how the civil war occurred and how much it changed our country. The civil war ended slavery in America. Slavery is when a person is sold to another person. Slaves had to do everything their owner told them to and that is not fair and right in any way. Slaves were not allowed to go to schools, they were separated from family, could not eat /sleep in houses. That was very mean to do to people so that is why the Civil War was so important.

The Cherokee who traveled from Oklahoma were known as the Western Cherokee, but some stayed in the Southeast. Hundred on Cherokee bought land together in North Carolina up near the mountains. They would hide in the mountains when the soldiers would come to try to get them. These Cherokee people were the Eastern Cherokee. The Eastern and Western came together and now the largest Native American group in the United States with over 11,000 people.

I think the most interesting part of chapter 7, was the part about the civil war. The war was between the Union ( northern states ) and the confederacy (southern states) , and it lasted for 4 years. Slavery was one of the most important issues of the war. People from the northern states did not want slavery , but the southern states thought they had a right to have slaves as their property. Abraham Lincoln was running for president in 1860, and he was against slavery . When Abraham Lincoln won the election , 7 southern states tried to pull out of the United States because they thought Lincoln would work against them and try to get rid of slavery.

In summer they live in rectangular houses. In the winter they live in smaller, warmer hut like houses. They also have a large meeting house in the middle of the village. The Cherokee gathered here for holidays or to make important decisions. All the adults could express their thoughts and issues. The Cherokee talked about issues until all of them could come to an agreement. They called this consensus.I think it was pretty cool learning about the Cherokee life style.

The most interesting part was learning about the Cherokee people and how they lived in the 1500’s. They lived in villages and in the center was their meeting house where they made decisions through consensus. I liked how they worked together. They lived in houses in the summer and huts in the winter. For food they hunted animals in the woods and farmed. Many Cherokee people today still live on reservations in the Southeast. They make artwork and crafts that are sold in stores across the country. They are also keeping the Cherokee language alive.

I liked learning about the Civil War the most. It was interesting to learn about a war that divided such a big country. Slavery and government power were two huge issues. The Civil War caused many deaths and the destruction of cities and farms. However the War also caused the passing of the 13th Amendment, ending slavery. I also liked learning about the Civil War because my favorite president, Abraham Lincoln, was president during it.

I think that the Civil War is important because the South wanted slavery and the North didn't. The Southerners thought that each state should have more control over what its citizens could do. The Northerners thought that the national government should have more power. It is called a civil war because it was a war between two groups in one country. The Civil War lasted five years and many people died.

On the other side were the Southern states called the Confederate states. Because the war set Northern states against Southern states, some people would call the Civil War the, '' War Between the States." The Civil War was a time of great suffering. I think the civil war is the most important subject in this chapter because it shaped the future of the United States. The civil war happened over many different issues but there were two important issues. The first was over slavery. The Confederacy, the southern states, wanted to keep slavery because it depended on them to work the plantations. The Union, the northern states, supported a national government while the South wanted each state to rule themselves. The South feared that the federal government would be able to abolish slavery if they remained united. Abraham Lincoln led the North in the civil war because he believed in freedom for everyone. Today the result of this war we have protected civil rights and the federal government rules the states regarding national issues while giving the states the ability to rule on local issues. I believe that the civil war helped the United States become a strong nation because of its unity of different people under one rule.

I think the most interesting part of the chapter was the history the southeast. This was interesting because explorers went to see what they could find. Ponce de Leon was trying to find the fountain of youth which meant we would be able to stay young forever! Also, he named Florida! Hernando de Soto searched for gold but instead explored the land that is now Southeastern united States. I think the explorers had interesting journeys!

They have a dancing mask ,but the Cherokee only use it on .There buldings are very different then are buldings. They used clay to make there huts. In the center of village is a meeting house ,they celebrate religious holidays and make important decisions. The Cherokee where hunters and farmers. They farmed in family units. They grew corn ,beans, squash, and other crops. they hunted in the forests. Trapped rabbits, and shot deer with bow arrows. they also hunted wild turkey, bears, fished in many streams, rivers, and lakes. The Cherokee debated issues until they can come to a agreement. this method is called consensus.

I think the Civil War is because it ended slavery. In the Civil war, states succeeded from the US those states were known as the South and wanted to keep slavery. The states that didn't succeeded were the North they wanted to end slavery.so they had a war, and after 4 long bloody year of fighting the South surrendered.
